CARSICK CARS Carsick Cars is one of the best known Chinese rock bands outside China. They've toured the US, Europe and Australia extensively and enjoyed much support along the way. Their open-chord noise and rythmic grungey rock sound have earned them the title of "Sonic Youth's favourite band in China".

The trio formed in 2005 and very quickly signed to Maybe Mars records. Their first album «Carsick Cars» (Maybe Mars, 2008) was produced by P.K.14 frontman Yang Haisong and kicked off what is now nostalgically referred to as the golden years of Chinese indie music.

Their sophomore album «You Can Listen, You Can Talk» (Maybe Mars, 2009) came only one year after, consolidating the reputation of Carsick Cars and their label Maybe Mars in the Chinese indie scene.

After a hiatus of 6 years Carsick Cars released their arguably most impressive album to date, "3" (Maybe Mars, 2014), produced by Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3 and Hamish Kilgour of The Clean in New York.

Carsick Cars have played SXSW several times, as well as Primavera Festival and All Tomorrow's Parties. In 2007 they toured Europe opening for Sonic Youth.

Front man Zhang Shouwang is also an accomplished composer and experimental music artist.
